Final Instructional Video

(this video can also be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2WlGI93ejs)

What specific lessons or activities would be enhanced by using these technologies and how would I implement them?
There are many times when schools might not have the funding to allow teachers to take their students on field trips that might prove useful in helping teach the educational material. Lack of funds may also limit the amount of materials to work with inside the classroom. I believe this is especially true for the science education. There are many activities/trips that would allow students to make better connections to the material, but they can be pretty pricey. Introducing videos I made myself would allow my students go on a virtual field trip, or do a virtual activity, without the administrators worrying about the cost of such activities.

  1. I really liked your text at the beginning! Also what a neat idea! How did you get in to take videos of the machinery? Your sound was too quiet though. I couldn't hear what was being said even with all sound all the way up. You have such a good voice for these videos as well.

  2. Jeff! This was an awesome video! I was impressed. It almost seemed like something that would be in a copyrighted educational video or something. I liked that it was filmed in a research place relatively close by. Would it be possible to take your students on a field trip there if they stayed away from the blood? The only thing I would suggest about the video is maybe change up the scene toward the end, for a little bit it seems like it is showing the same red blood cells for a while. Other than that it was great!

  3. Cool idea! I like that we got to go on a little field trip.

You might make some changes to the volume. Especially in the 'Preparing the Slide' segment--it was pretty quiet there.

When you are introducing new terms it might be nice for the word to flash up on the screen, especially where we're just looking at the RBCs. So when you are talking about RBCs and you say 'erythrocyte' have 'erythrocyte' show up, that way students can take notes or learn new vocab easier.

I like how your music came in and faded and everything, that was well done!

And I'd have to agree with McKenzie, you have a great video voice!

Oh and one more thing--on the part where we're learning lots and looking at the same footage, you could just do a still shot so there aren't those slight wiggles in the video.
